PORCELAIN DENTAL CROWN

Fillings, trauma, decay and, in many cases, everyday eating habits will make the teeth break down as time passes. A porcelain dental crown is a cover placed over the tooth to prevent a damaged tooth from further breaking down. Crowns may be used to restore a discolored or poorly shaped tooth or protect a tooth with a root canal treatment. Finally, a brand-new porcelain crown may also be used to replace an old or damaged dental crown.

Porcelain crowns are often considered the best cosmetic option, given that they can be made to match the physical appearance of your teeth.

THE COMMON DENTAL CROWN TREATMENT PROCESS

It usually takes two sessions for your dentist to finalize a crown. On the first visit, the dentist prepares the tooth to ensure the crown will correctly fit over it. Next, an impression of the tooth is taken as a temporary crown is placed to preserve the prepared tooth until the permanent crown is in place. Finally, the impression is delivered to a dental laboratory where technicians fabricate a custom-fit final crown. At The Dental Smile Centre in Bolton and Caledon Area, we can provide a dental crown on the same day as preparation to minimize the number of appointments needed.

SAME-DAY PORCELAIN DENTAL CROWN SERVICES IN BOLTON

A great-looking smile is one of the first things noticed about a person.

Dental Crowns are recommended for those with root canal-treated teeth, severe damage, broken restorations, and ill-positioned teeth. The tooth that is being prepared for a dental crown restoration will be shaved down, and a digital impression will be taken. Once this process is complete, appropriate adjustments are made using computer software, and the crown is immediately milled using CEREC digital technology.

DENTAL BRIDGE

A dental bridge is used to replace one or more missing teeth, provided that the natural teeth and gums are healthy on either side of the tooth being replaced. The supporting teeth will be ground down to create abutments that are used to anchor the bridge in place. A bridge consists of a minimum of three units: two crowns cemented into the abutment teeth and a pontic (false tooth) fused between them. A dental bridge is a reliable and cost-effective option to replace missing teeth in a natural-looking way.

If missing teeth are left untreated, it may cause the surrounding teeth to drift out of position, and the remaining teeth and gums become more susceptible to decay and periodontal problems. Fixed dental bridges can correct an altered bite and chewing and improve speech while providing a natural appearance. However, they are inadequate for preventing bone loss and often require replacement over time.

PORCELAIN VENEERS

Dental Veneers are thin restorations, often made of porcelain, for reliable results. The tooth surface is prepared, and an impression is taken to help mould and cement the restoration for a precise fit. We assist in determining the best color, fit and shape for optimal long-term results and have the lab fabricate them accordingly.

This process is done over a few appointments and provides excellent results for those not candidates for tooth whitening and looking for an alternate treatment to crowns. Porcelain veneers are used to restore permanently stained teeth, discoloration, and worn and chipped teeth and are also used to mask unwanted gaps and spaces.
